Things to do
Minutes from skiing, Ohiopyle, Fallingwater and the Flight 93 memorial.
Winter
Seven Springs and Hidden Valley are both close for skiing. Store skis and boots at the bottom of the basement steps, and come back to the gas fireplace and the pool table. We provide a plow and shovel service when the snow is deep.
Spring
Bring a fly rod. Kooser Run runs right past the property. Check the stocking date, since opening weekend is a popular day for anglers. Ohiopyle State Park is close for waterfalls and hiking as the woods green up.
Summer
Go whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle, hike, or ride the Great Allegheny Passage. At home, the cabin stays cool in the shade with the windows open, and evenings belong to the deck.
Fall
Fall color in the Laurel Highlands is hard to beat. Tour Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater (book ahead), then end the day around our newly rebuilt stone fire pit.
Any time of year
The Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville is a short drive away and is worth a quiet visit in any season.
